About this directory
How the Vite Research journal feed directory is generated and validated: data sources, licences, validation method, indexing rules, and how to correct a feed.
Data sources and licences
- OpenAlex (OurResearch, CC0): name, ISSNs, publisher, works and citation counts, h-index, two-year mean citedness, open-access status, APC, country and topics of each journal, plus the taxonomy of 26 fields and 252 subfields. Pulled on 2026-09-06.
- DOAJ (CC0 metadata): open-access status and language.
- arXiv: the category taxonomy and the feed addresses documented in its help pages; used per its terms of use.
- Publishers: feed URLs belong to their publishers. Nothing from the feeds is stored here; the latest articles load live from the publisher when you open a page.
Validation method
- We take the 2,500 journals with the most works in OpenAlex and the 586 journals with more than 1,000 works hosted in Spanish-speaking countries.
- For each journal we derive candidate feed addresses from its publisher's pattern (by ISSN, code or id) and, without a pattern, read the feed link the journal page advertises in its head.
- We fetch every candidate and parse it: format (RSS 2.0, RSS 1.0 or Atom), item count and latest item date.
- Result on 2026-09-06: 1,382 working feeds, 172 blocked by the publisher (HTTP 403 or 429), and 1,515 with no feed found.
- We repeat the check monthly from the server; feeds that stop answering are marked and their page is no longer indexed.
Indexing rules
A journal page is indexed by search engines only when its feed works, the journal has at least 1,000 works or is in DOAJ, and the feed shows an item from the last twelve months. Other pages exist to complete the lists but carry noindex. A field page is indexed with at least ten journals with feeds. Spanish pages exist for the hubs, tools, guides, comparisons, glossary and the journals published from Spanish-speaking countries.
What we do not do
- We do not show the impact factor or CiteScore: both are licensed metrics. OpenAlex's h-index and two-year mean citedness are the nearest open measures.
- We do not copy addresses from other directories: every listed feed was fetched by us.
- We do not store articles or abstracts from the feeds.
Corrections
If a feed is wrong, dead or your journal is missing, write to [email protected]. Corrections are applied at the next monthly check.

Who maintains it
This directory is maintained by the team behind Vite Research, the research workspace that follows feeds, highlights web pages and keeps sources snapshotted and citable. Every feed here was fetched and parsed by us; nothing is copied from another directory.
