Terms of Service

Last updated 6 September 2026. These terms are the agreement between you and Foreranger Ltd for Vite Research. They are written to be read: short sections, no surprises. If anything is unclear, ask us before you rely on it.

Who we are and what these terms cover

Vite Research is a product of Foreranger Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (“we”, “us”). These terms cover the website at viteresearch.com, including the Journal Feeds directory and the Feed Finder, the web app at app.viteresearch.com, and the browser extension for Chrome and Firefox (together, the “service”).

By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use the service for an organisation, you confirm that you may agree on its behalf.

The service

Vite Research lets you highlight and annotate web pages, save pages to a Library with a stored copy and a citation, follow journals and other feeds, write notes, organise collections, and, on the Pro plan, share work with a team in spaces.

The free plan includes unlimited highlights, feeds and notes, and, at the date above, 3 projects, 3 collections, 100 saved sources and 5 monitored sources. We may change what each plan includes; the current limits are always on the pricing page, and we give notice before a change that reduces what you already have.

Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old.
  • Give us accurate details and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • One person per account. A team shares through spaces, not through one login.
  • Tell [email protected] at once if you think someone else is using your account.

Plans, payment and cancellation

  • Free plan: no charge, no time limit, no card needed.
  • Pro: $8.99 per month in US dollars, billed monthly by card through Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel.
  • Students: $3.99 per month for the Pro plan. Write to [email protected] from your university address or with proof of enrolment. We may ask for proof again each year.
  • Cancelling: you can cancel at any time from your account. Your Pro features stay on until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not refund part months, except where the law gives you a right to a refund.
  • Consumers in the UK and EU: you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of subscribing. Because the service starts at once, you agree that we may deduct an amount for the days you used it before cancelling.
  • Downgrading: nothing is deleted when you go back to the free plan. Your content stays; you cannot create more than the free limits allow until you upgrade again.
  • Failed payments: if a payment fails we tell you and retry. If it still fails, your account returns to the free plan.
  • Price changes: we give at least 30 days’ notice by e-mail before a price rise takes effect for you.
  • Taxes: prices exclude any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live; where we must charge it, it is shown before you pay.

Your content

Your highlights, notes, saved pages, collections, uploads and messages are yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store, copy, process and display your content to you and to the people you share it with, and to make backups.

You are responsible for your content. In particular:

  • You must have the right to save, share or publish what you put into Vite Research, including copies of other people’s web pages.
  • What you share into a space is visible to its members. What you publish on a public source page or as a public highlight is visible to anyone with the link. You can unshare or unpublish at any time.
  • We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law, and we will tell you when we do unless the law prevents it.

Rights holders who believe content in Vite Research infringes their rights can write to [email protected] with the link and the details, and we will act promptly.

Saved pages, monitoring and the Journal Feeds directory

  • A saved page is a copy kept for your own research and record-keeping. Do not republish other people’s content from your Library without their permission.
  • Change monitoring fetches pages on the schedule you choose. We may slow or limit fetching that puts an unreasonable load on a publisher’s site.
  • The Journal Feeds directory lists feed addresses that publishers themselves provide, together with journal data from OpenAlex and DOAJ (both CC0). Article titles are loaded live from the publisher and are not stored by us. Use the directory, the JSON and OPML files and the Feed Finder for reasonable, personal or institutional use; do not scrape it in bulk beyond the published files.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service to:

  • store, share or publish content that is illegal, infringing, defamatory, harassing or harmful;
  • upload malware or attempt to gain access to accounts, systems or data that are not yours;
  • send spam or run automated bulk requests beyond the documented endpoints, or circumvent plan limits, rate limits or security measures;
  • copy, sell, rent or resell the service, or reverse-engineer it except where the law allows;
  • pass yourself off as someone else, or as us.

Our intellectual property

The service, its software, design, text, drawings and the Vite Research name and logo belong to us or our licensors. These terms do not give you any right to them beyond using the service. If you send us suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.

The pages you save, the feeds you follow and the publishers’ sites we link to are not ours. We do not check them and are not responsible for them. A citation generated by Vite Research is a convenience; check it against your style guide before you submit work.

Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep the service available and to fix problems quickly, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, add or remove features. If we remove a feature you rely on, or close the service, we give reasonable notice and keep exports available so you can take your data with you.

Ending the agreement

  • By you: stop using the service at any time. To close your account, write to [email protected] or use your account settings where available. Your data is then deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • By us: we may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, does not pay, or creates legal or security risk for us or other users. Where we reasonably can, we warn you first and give you time to export your data.

No warranty

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises about its fitness for a particular purpose, about the accuracy of feeds, citations or stored copies, or about results. Nothing in this section reduces the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.

Limits on our liability

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data that you could have exported, or loss caused by third-party sites and feeds. Our total liability to you for all claims in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, or fifty US dollars if you paid nothing.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country. If something goes wrong, write to [email protected] first; most problems are solved within a few days.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For changes that matter, we give at least 14 days’ notice by e-mail or in the app. If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you do not agree, cancel and export your data before the change takes effect.
